Favorite Squaresoft Characters?

Verek:
Meh. Thou shalt not speak ill of Xenogears. For it is good. Most of the characterization issues are just from a relatively lacklustre translation, but, you know, I'm sure Square was very tentative about bringing Xenogears over in the first place. I mean, it does have very religious themes, something that the American audience has trouble dealing with.

At any rate, Mog is sweet, the whole cast of FF6 is awesome (they somehow managed to develop all of those characters fairly well. Not great, but hey.) Vincent is cool, and so is Auron. Some of my favourite non-Square characters, though, would have to be the cast of Earthbound (Ness, Paula, Jeff, and Poo! Whee!), Viktor and Flik from the Suikoden series (I and II, at least, III AND IV NEVER HAPPENED) Other sweet RPG characters are slipping my mind for some reason.

Never played Xenogears so I had to go look at some screens.  It seems like Square going "Hey, HEY look!  We can do giant robots too, looooooove us."  I jest.  I thought you were talking about Xenosaga at first.  Wasn't that by Namco?  More robots, at least in the first one I vaguely remember.

The imp who does a couple of tutorials in FF3 at the begining had the best music in the game.  I also like the bar/tavern theme that is ragtime-esque.  And I am thinking the owner of the first airship is Setzer.

Super Dave:
Chrono

Or Cactular (whatever his name is)
A GIANT CACTUS! HOW COOL IS THAT?

Digs:

Xenogears is actually Squaresoft saying "hey, lookee here, we can shove enough zombie-gameplay and quasireligious crap into a game to garner ignorance from the average gamer and disdain from the well-travelled gamer. Also, hey, crucified pink thing."

Super Dave:
Digs, I now would love you if I went that way.
