The Forced Listening Thread

Houdinimachine:
That's fucking beautiful. I <3 you so much.

Now someone review mine.

KharBevNor:
Man Man - Feathers

Started off with a minor, but still somehow jaunty little guitar figure, building up and whatnot quite lightly. Semi-hoarse processed or multiple voices with not a little hint of Tom Waits in them break in. Actually quite a nice song. 8/10.

Now, in keeping with the theme of todays strip, I simply must provide more metal. It saddens my heart that, these days, kids just have no idea what metal is all about. So I picked something really musically uplifting and pretty damn balls to the wall, though some would disagree with me. More horrible snarly voices I'm afraid.

Arch Enemy - Angelclaw

I challenge you to listen from about 3:15 to 3:30 and tell me that fast guitar playing is not emotional.

Storm Rider:
I already love Arch Enemy (or at least, Stigmata/Burning Bridges/Wages of Sin Arch Enemy), so I'll pass on this one.

But it reminds me of a thread I was going to start.

Rizzo:
Arch Enemy-Angelclaw

I didn't really enjoy this song. It may have been the low quality encoding but it just sounded messy. The guitar playing was skillful but the recording and vocals really let it down for me. Other Arch Enemy songs have really blown me away but this just left me hanging. I want more power and less frills. At the end of the day it's just guitar wankery and not even amazing guitar wankery either.
6/10

Circle Takes The Square-As The Roots Undo
Post hardcore.

Hairy Joe Bob:
Well...

This is not a genre I listen to anymore. However it reminds me of back when I was into this kind of stuff and for that it makes me feel a bit warm and fuzzy inside. I do like it. The build up parts are very good, and almost menacing in places. I'd listen to this in my car as i drove on a rainy day I think. then hit 100 when it hit the loud part in the track. The fadeout is quite something. And gave me a little shudder down my spine.

So yes: I recommend it. It's good mood music for me I think.

A hearty 6/10. pretty average. but with ace guitar noodling.

I put forward:

The marvellous PIPETTES!
