well... i am exactly the opposite: i can't draw on paper *g*

@tinjessla
Thanks! :) it's my first finished non-comic-type work, and the sixth pic i drew at all...

@valrus
neat! you should make a digital version of it!

Despite the fact that i f....d up the colour of the armour (it wasn't intended to look like that) i really like it now. I think i will make a print from it as soon as i made a decent background.

Thanks! But I'm too poor to afford any quality art-type software and I don't know how to use it well anyway! Also I would need to get a tablet (which I might do at some point, but I'm unemployed and trying to be frugal this summer) and yadda yadda yadda. So I'm working on improving my regular drawing abilities first, I guess, and maybe I'll try and delve more into computer art when I have money again.

you could use "the gimp". nearly as good as photoshop, and its free and available for windows linux and mac os x.

I've used the gimp. As a dyed-in-the-wool OS X user, I have to say that the interface sucks and I hate it and I couldn't use it for more than 10 minutes.

Pretty powerful though! And you did a helluva job on that dwarf with it. But even if I liked the gimp's interface, I need as little as possible between my scant abilities to be creative and the means to make something from that creativity. Learning how to use software as complex as the gimp would be a huge stumbling block and I doubt I'd end up being able to use it for anything worthwhile without like a year of mucking around.

Also: Do you have a tablet?
