Primate:
The Japanese seem to be a bit behind the States in terms of equality of the sexes, and their fiction reflects that. On the other hand, male homosexual romantic situations are considered perfectly appropriate material for tales aimed at young girls.

As for the other bit, I like the fact that their characters act a bit more cartoony in the action and romance genres than their American counterparts. The Teen Titan cartoon on the Cartoon Network incorporates those features but with an American story pace. It gives it a nice, distinct feel from the Justice League or Superdog shows.

The "one-piece?"  Huh?  I know of series, movies, and OVA's, but I've never heard of a one-piece.
