yipjumpmusic:
For those not hording their local bands, please post links to your favorite ones here.  I'll start and end if no one else posts another band.  What do you mean I'm cynical!?

San Diego-Bunky (may be slightly known as they are on sufjan stevens label now and have opened for Pinback but for those that don't know them...)  Check out Bunky and the two main people's individual efforts.  I especially love Rafter's How Bout U Dad.

a pack of wolves:
Executive Distraction Tasks - Super-fast tech worship
Bilge Pump - Upbeat and bouncy DIY goodness
Red Stars Parade - Massive grooves
Humanfly - All hail the insectoid riff machine
Chickenhawk - Oxes and Melvins style rock destruction

Leeds is good

KharBevNor:
Basolutely none of my liked local bands seem to have websites :(

I am heavily partial to the musings of Overlord to give you a flavour, their cd gives their lineup thus:

Lucky Larry -  Forked Tongue Vocal Ordnance
The Baron - Guitar Delusions
Charrrr - Fuzzed-up Six-String Diabolism
Jess - Low-End Drone
Mike The Failure (the Elephant Man) - Soviet Drum Horror

They play insanely loud, slow and sludgy doom metal. Their lyrical themes (they do concept EPs) are Eastern European prostitution and Misanthropy. They do two covers: 'Girls Aloud-Sound of the Underground' and 'Anal Cunt-Dead, Gay and Dropped'.

Also rocking my world are their sister band Syrafex, with their dual male/female screaming sludge assault.

a pack of wolves:
If you like sludgy metal, give these guys a go: Agent of the Morai - Iron Monkey style stonery sludge business.

muffy:
We do pretty well for local bands:

The Pipettes
Clearlake
Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster I know everyone here seems to think they're annoying scenesters, but they are lovely and I will not hear a bad word spoken about them.
Electrelane (though one of them's now in Prague, and another one's in the states now)
Miss Pain (who have graffittied every toilet in brighton - no mean feat)
Star Scream (mate's  band, they've supported Rachel Stamp I think, really really good)
Brakes (best band in the world ever, with Eamon from BSP)
The Tenderfoot
Electric Soft Parade
Teasing Lulu
and...
BRITISH SEA POWER.

Brighton's cool.
