Dead Kennedys version of "I fought the law" is better than the original.  Then again, it's not exactly a cover, per se.

I dunno, I really think that Tom Wait's original Jersey Girl has the edge over Springsteen's.

Jeridus: I've heard the Thrice one, and I have to admit it is a pretty damn good cover.
[02:12] yuniorpocalypse: let's talk about girls

Agreed.
Also, Cat Power's version of 'I Found a Reason' (velvet underground).
Her voice makes me wobbly at the knees.

Marslo

Iron Maiden covering the Ripper, orignaly by Judas Priest.

I allways wondered if it was Bruce Dickinson way of telling JP that they sucked.

KharBevNor

No, it was Bruce going "Rob Halford is my big gay God. and I want his hat".

And dammit, who wouldn't want a hat like that?
[22:25] Dovey: i don't get sigquoted much
[22:26] Dovey: like, maybe, 4 or 5 times that i know of?
[22:26] Dovey: and at least one of those was a blatant ploy at getting sigquoted

EDIT: I stand corrected, never mind. But I'll have no talk of JP sucking around here.

Oh I know it's a good song. It's just that I'm also somehat of a Beatles freak.

IronOxide

That Thrice cover of Elanor Rigby just doesn't have the same feel as the original Beatles piece, which was perfect. Also he messed up the lyrics, it where do they all come from, then where do they all belong.

EDIT: I don't mean to be an asshole, it's just not my cup of tea. Mmmm, I could go for some tea now.

I have a thing for the violin in the beatles version so this just isn't as good.
Plus I don't really like that kind of music so turning it into a punk pop song kinda just was a dumb idea in my eyes.
By the way
