Fun Stuff > BAND
Musicians/bands you have an irrational hatred of
a pack of wolves:
Such as? My point is that Funeral For A Friend are not an emo band, and from what I remember of seeing them live a few years ago neither are Bright Eyes. Yes, those lyrics are emotional (and appallingly bad). So? Lots of bands who aren't emo sing about their emotions, it's probably the most common lyrical subject. And contrary to popular belief, singing about your feelings is not a prerequisite for an emo song i.e.
I can truly say I don't give
A fuck about your money
Because it means so much to you
And all your money
Why does it mean so much to you?
You speak the land of greed
I'm talking a world of need
Money has nothing to do
With the value of life
But that's just common sense
You call me up and talk
About money
I don't want to hear anymore
About money
Embrace - 'Money'
That's an emo song. Part of one anyway, I couldn't be bothered to type out the rest. It's about greed, not love, heartbreak or anything like that. And Orchid spent more time singing about philosophers than they did getting dumped, like:
I was born in 1968
I was born in '68
And I'm born again!
Fresh face for the stencilled walls
Debord is always right here
And get scared again - cause I'm reborn
I am reborn red! red! red!
Orchid - 'Victory Is Ours'

Well, Linkin Park fills me with pure disgust, but perhaps they are so commercial everybody on this forum dont even count em as a band. What do I know ^~

Cradle...lovely guys....Danni is one of the biggest twats out there. It's the reason why he's banned from pretty much everywhere in his hometown.
But Khar's a cool guy and I can forgive him for liking the one band like Cradle.

@Khar: I bet you'd hate most of the music I listen to. All of friends love Cradle of Filth so I have been subjected to years of listening to them. The only songs I remotely like are 'Mannequin' and 'Amor e Morte', but otherwise I'd be happy to destroy every CD they've ever published. Yeah, they probably are lovely blokes/their music is 'from the heart' and whatnot, but that doesn't mean I have to like them.

Yeah, I was drunk. Thing is, those aren't even particularly good songs by them. I mean, have you ever heard any of their earlier stuff? The two songs I mentioned above are prime examples, but 'The Black Goddess Rises', 'The Forest Whispers My Name' and 'Haunted Shores' are other particularly good ones. Even later on they'd churn out the occasional killer like 'Scorched Earth Erotica' or 'Lord Abortion'. Cradle only became musically dull on about half the songs on Midian, and then totally on DAAD. As for Dani's personality, big whoop. Unless it really comes across in the music what does a bands personalities etc. really matter? It's the music they make, and you can't disagree that, at least until the recent semi-dumbing down, he wrote some of the best lyrics in the genre. Finally, I can always respect him and cradle, because they did work pretty hard to get where they are: they pretty much built the bandwagon that everyone else jumped on as far as Gothic Black Metal goes. If anyone should be disrespected it's obvious Cradle clones such as Illnath, but as 'Cast Into Fields of Evil Pleasure' was superior to pretty much everything Cradle's done in the past five years, they too can be forgiven. The only manufactured band in metal is Dream Evil, a fact everyone seems to forget and indeed, totally forgive. Because DE rule. I'll stop now before another tangent gets me.

AC/DC
If I'm stepping on a few toes I'm sorry, but the fact that all their songs sound nearly the same drives me nuts.
