Did you fit the stereotypes about your favourate music?

Skibas_clavicle:
Meh, its all good. I think I've gotten a little too old to care a lot about what "classification" I'm in. I think you loose a little bit of that affinity for classification after high school. Not all, but a bit.

But dude! Liberty spike roXorz. I'm a rather big fan of the punk attire/look.

muffy:
I don't mind being outed as an indie fuck because of the way I dress and act, and it's started some interesting conversations,
but
I'm getting kind of tired of people coming on all 'indier than thou' on me - it's like I have a beacon that says 'Hey, I'll humour you in a game of 'how many bands can you list until I say one that you don't recognise so that I can indulge my superiority over you'' It's getting pretty tedious.

I think I may start dressing like a chav to combat this

Skibas_clavicle:
Chav in Canadian terms = thugged out kids?

Yah, that's why I don't really dress 'indie'. Somethings are silly and plus, like you said muffy, that whole "indier than thou" thing just kinda ticks me off.

muffy:
Yeah, over here a Chav is the kind of person with an IQ of about 60, who try so hard to emulate the various noxious celebs that populate the media, and do so by wearing a kilo of make up, much hair gel, and all the girls are pregnant by the time they're 16...

That said, I'm gonna get a T-shirt made up which says 'Indier than Thou' and wear it to the next indie club I go to. I think it'll be funny, though indie kids are a notoriously humourless bunch...I'll see how it goes :)

dancarter:
I don't, really...much to the amazement of people who have become my friends over the last little while.  i'm pretty mellow in terms of clothing, opting for comfort more than anything.  in terms of the music i like, i should be wearing black latex bondage pants 24 hrs a day.
