--- Quote from: DavidGrohl ---Lineage 2 rocks.  I played, had a lvl 34 Treasure Hunter for teh win!  Anyways, I quit for EQ2, which I quit that because I didn't have enough time anymore.  Good times though.  The grind in L2 was horrid, but it gave me a feeling of accomplishment.  Best part about L2, open PvP . . you don't like someone?  Kill them!  Until I see a game in the "Next-Gen" MMORPG PC games, I'll be playing my beloved RTS's.

L2 lacked a lot of elements but had/has a lot of potentional.  The grind is bad but it's the reason a lot play the game.  The open PvP could destroy weeks (xp loss) or months (item loss) of effort in a few short PvP matches.  All of this made you build a strong trust with your clan because an action of a single clanmate fell onto the entire clan.
I played a lvl 60-something SwordSinger on Bartz.

Ultima Online - 1997
Nexus: Kingdom of Winds - 1996
Lineage - 1998
Everquest - 1999
Ashron's Call - 1999
Diablo II - 2000

Putting aside the fact that DII is not an MMORPG, it was hardly the first.

beta-testing.

catflea:
I used to play Planetarion,     those were the days

Corwin:
I've played MMORPGs since Ultima Online, but I think Shadowbane has to be my favorite so far.  I play mostly for PvP, and Shadowbane did PvP very well.  Also, it had a completely player driven economy which I have yet to see since.

WoW is also immensely addictive. mmmmm

McTaggart:
Diablo 2 came out in 2000 now?
I was sure it was well before that. Wait, its 2005 now? Damn.
