What bands have the best lyrics overall, in your opinion.  You may add why, if so inclined.

For me, all of these bands/artists are relatable and have music that is moving, without being wussy.  That's my main criteria, catharsis without pretention.

And I firmly believe that if you can't identify with Black Flag, you're probably not human.
