My Friend is a Metalhead...

<< < (15/17) > >>

Johnny C:
I know Native North American metal exists. I have been exposed to it.

Just think of derivative, bad metal wif tribal drums in. I didn't write down the band's name.

Poke:
I had a friend like that, who just liked fairly bad mainstream metal... got him into Acid Bath and from there he progressed nicely into "better" metal, and into some other decent stuff like Marcy Playground, Sublime, and Bob Marley.  Start with just some basic alternative stuff that nearly everyone loves like Cake.

And I don't know anyone who likes the Decemberists that doesn't like the Postal Service... nearly everyone can appreciate them.

MyPandaisOnFire:
Gotta agree with the rest of em, he needs to listen to real metal.

My recommendations:

See what genre of metal he likes, some may adore power metal but can't stand black metal.

Anywhoo.

Thrash:

Slayer
Kreator
Metallica (black album-era)
Celtic Frost (Not thrash, but its the closest thing)

Death:

Vehemence
Cryptopsy
Necrophagist
Strapping Young Lad
Gorgasm
Gorguts
Vormitory

Black:

Windir
Naglfar
Old Man's Child (Post-melodic black, but close enough)
Rotting Christ
Emperor
Darkthrone

Melo-Death:

In Flames (Older albums, avoid new shit)
Dark Tranquility
Arsis
Arch Enemy

Grind (and numerous sub-sub-genres):

Exhumed
Fuck...I'm Dead
Napalm Death
Pig Destroyer
Extreme Noise Terror

Metalcore (Not metal, but many metalheads enjoy it):

Trivium
Rifles at Recess
Into Eternity
Avenged Sevenfold (Its my guilty pleasure, I love these guys for some reason)

Power:

Iced Earth
Man'o'War
Dragonforce
Children of Bodom
Blind Guardian

There ya go :D.

happybirthdaygelatin:
This thread always on sight will get either All my friends are metalheads by Less then Jake or Blame it on God by Deicide stuck in my head.  Sometimes both at the same time.

KharBevNor:
lol.

I love anti-christian music, but Deicide are just so childish...
