Teh worst purchase evar!
Ozymandias:
--- Quote from: nihilist ---I like my Dell laptop (it's fast and whatnot) but there have been a few little problems with it. First, the battery died about two months after I bought it. You know how hard it is to get Dell to ship things up to Baffin Island? Nearly impossible. Second, the DVD+/-RW failed after about 18 months. I didn't really use it, either, which made it sad. The last (and the biggest) problem with the Dell 600m is... Heat! The thing has some serious heat issues. Dell released a BIOS that underclocked and underpowered everything to "fix" this, but that's about it. I spent a wad of cash for fast and light, and then you try to fuck me up the ass by underclocking it? Please. I just keep it away from my body. Yay tables and trays and magazines. :p

Oh, boy. I'm on a Dell laptop right now.
It regularly overheats(I have a program to manually regulate its fans now just in the hope I can keep it going), loses half its RAM whenever it shuts down, requiring it to be off for 24 hours before it'll have full RAM again, I'm on my third power cord and it's starting to break, the batteyr light is constantly blinking FOR NO GOOD REASON, and, all in all, is a piece of junk.
Joy.
Neo_Fallen:
Id have to say my cheap dvd burner. It has an interesting (fucking annoying) habbit of reading the last disk that was in it even if its empty...
Like i will have the matrix in and swap it for say.. star wars but oh no it still sees matrix untill i refresh it like 10 times or wait 5 mins. My fault for getting a cheap ass one i guess...
blindbyfire:
I have the same overheating problem with my dell 600. I use two old checkbooks over the hot spots so that I can do my writing, otherwise my wrists get so uncomfortable with the heat. (Yes i have very poor typing posture)
I have also had trouble with the disk drive, it tends to scratch discs, although not as bad as the dell desktop my family has.
Sideways:
A Logitech joystick (meant for flight simulators and such). I figured I could replace my WASD setup on the keyboard with a really nice ($90) joystick, for playing Call of Duty, MOH:AA, etc.
I tried, and tried, and tried... but I cannot get the hang of using it, and I always went back to the WASD after dying a dozen times. I finally just gave up, and realized that it really is only going to be good for mech/flight/simulator games... genres which I don't indulge in. It now sits on the top of my desk, gathering dust.
Sarcasmorator:
I bought a new sound card once that broke the CD-ROM. Years ago. All I wanted to do was hear the damn music in Diablo, but no. It was play silent or not at all with that piece of crap.
Good sound card, too. Just never goddamn worked. There went $80 wasted. And before anyone wonders, (A) I really sucked at fixing hardware issues back then, but (B) my best friend didn'y and he couldn't fix it either. But we did so try.
