War of the MUSIC!
So_Effing_l33t:
I don't know if a post like this has already been made, and I hope not...but I still feel it should be voiced: What is it with this War of the Music goin' on?
In Questionable Content, I love how the characters (such as Dora/Faye) sort of play around or mock each other for their musical backround. When they do it, its funny. When a crazy metalhead guy and an emo kid get into a tiffy about it...it suddenly looses its comedic factor, and raises sort of a...."WTF?" factor.
I guess you could say Im a musically...diverse...person, and so I really take no side on any argument. Maybe because I dont care to get into fights and arguments, or maybe I just know better...but its getting out of hand.
Its always... 'RAP IS SO GAY!' 'METAL IS SO STUPID!' 'EMO SUCKS!' etc, etc (Not being mean to anyone on here, obviosuly if you read QC you must have some sense in you, lol)....why cant we all get along? Humanity will never have the same taste....ever. Its nature. So why fight over it? if you dont like it, change the station or skip the song or whatever...but it doesn't have to grow into these musical 'hatecrimes', if you will.
Maybe its just me ranting, but does anyone else have a take on this?
SalsaShark:
I also am musically diverse, and I say "Can't we all just get along?" too ^__^. Does that make me like a music hippie?
El Opium:
I find it inevitable. I try to be fair but to me there are certain kinds of music that just suck. There are others I'm neutral on that I just don't accept as being the genre for me.At the same time I know there are a good number of people out there who think what I like is stupid/sucks.
Signum_Tenebrae:
I agree that everybody has their own opinion, but I happen to think that there is certainly a type of "hierarchy" in music (classical music being on top, of course)
What I listen to falls somewhere in the upper-middle, but thankfully above most other people's musical tastes.
Addius:
I'd say that it could be because certain genres doesn't really rely on a great musical talent. I'm not saying musical talent can't be diverse but it seems it isn't always needed in mainstream, which I find rather sad.
