ASturge:
I use 'Sonar 4 producers addition' with a basic Tascam 4 track.

Sonar is £300 worth of pure awesomeness

Ahh, that place looks like fun.  I used to work at Chicago Recording Company.  Having all that gear at your fingertips is way too much fun.  If you need anywhere to go intern after recording school, CRC is a great place.

mAlice aforeThought:
i am currently attempting to learn supercollider.  since i've never done any actual programming in my life, it's making my head very ouchy.

Hatebunny:
I record live instruments with Cool Edit and then mix them in with programming and stuff in fruityloops and Acid.

edit: I also have an M-audio Fast Tracker which I neglected to mention.

uberjon:
Sonar 4 (should be 64 bit soon??) is cool, so is Ableton Live

M-Audio released a ProTools Version for my audio card (is it worth it on a audiophile??).

Guitar Rig by Native Insturments is whicked for Amp Modeling.

Absynth is cool for narcotic backdrops and some harsh sounds.
