What is an instrument?

<< < (11/12) > >>

zekterellium:
everything in the world is an instrument.

Switchblade:
...if you hit it hard enough, yeah...

normz:
Lol that's funny cause i've always considered myself as an instrument as my vocal chords are usually capable of producing a fairly pleasing sound so if you hit me in the throat hard enough and i scream is that music ........ or am i just opening a whole new bucket of worms in the 'voice as an instrument debate'

oddball318:
no arguement from me, voice is most certainly an instrument.  A good example of nonlyrical vocals is a lot of the stuff Bobby McFerrin has been doing in jazz circles post-his-days-as-a-one-hit-wonder.  I've heard a couple recordings of him and Herbie Hancock trading riffs, also stuff like him doing imitative accompaniment with Yo Yo Ma on a Flight of the Bumblebee cut.

If you were talking about something else, then meh.

Shit, that is awesome.
