boeuf:
UK Subs rule...

Punk bands I love (coming from all branches of punk. Post-punk, pop punk, etc.

Swingin Utters, Leatherface, Mr. T Experience, Dillinger Four, Bad Religion, Op Ivy, Rancid,  Crass, Wire (old old old school punk), Trenchmouth (totally obscure), Against Me!, Discount, Circle Jerks, Moral Crux, Common Rider, Tiger Army, The Dicikies, The Vandals, (young) pioneers, Auntie Christ...

uh, lots.
Punk is my baby.

a pack of wolves:
For my money, Dillinger Four are probably the best melodic punk band ever. And that cover of Sally McLennan (I'm sure that's spelt wrong, but neither 'This Shite Is Genius' nor 'Rum, Sodomy And The Lash' are to hand) even manages to top the original.

I've never had that much affection for 70s straight-up punk bands though, which explains why I rate them over most of the originators of the genre. Sham 69, X-Ray Spex, The Buzzcocks, The Ramones and The Misfits are some of the few I have time for, although I do respect a lot of them for how different what they were doing was to what had come before. Oh, and early Black Flag of course, back when Keith Morris was on vocals they were really more punk than hardcore in style.

heretic:
Rancid got a little too mainstream for my tastes but the old stuff was good.

Pinkerton Thugs
Fugazi
The Virus
The UNseen
Devotchkas
Lower class Brats
Screeching weasel
Global threat
millencolin (fuck you i like em)
the real mckenzies
detuned and off-key

and i don't think they need be metioned, but they can't go unmentioned : Dropkick Murpheys

a pack of wolves:
They could have done. It would have given the thread so much more class...

Now Millencolin on the other hand had some decent tunes. Patchy, certainly, but still capable of cranking out some good, fast, catchy punk when the mood took them. I might have to dig out a Punk-O-Rama in a minute, I'm getting all nostalgic. And if we're going to bring them up... Satanic Surfers anyone?
