Well I do and it's not just me ..... I know other people who find Billy Corgan's voice irritating but ahhh it doesn't matter I guess it's whatever floats your boat....

a pack of wolves:

--- Quote from: godbowstomath ---hm, the smashing pumpkins...

i reccomend wolf eyes. or merzbow. or both.

Actually, and I'm not being daft with this, but Wolf Eyes can be pretty accessible so that's not too bad a recommendation. Merzbow... well, he's pretty patchy isn't he?

I'm going to add Arab Strap to the recommendations. Depressing indie filth from Scotland, and rather damn fine.

Coonstar:
Hmm, Billy Corgan's voice wasn't originally insanely whiny. Siamese Dream was practically whine-free except for Disarm (which is a great song), but when Mellon Collie hit - the whine took over. Adore the whine was completely minimalized (and a very pretty and soft album it is), but it returned with Machina.  Hee. Yeah I understand that Corgan's vocals aren't just for some people, but it doesn't mean that the band is terrible. But for some strange reason, I feel that Corgan's vocals are absolutely perfect with the Pumpkin's style. I can't imagine another vocalist taking over and singing all those different kinds of Pumpkin songs, no matter how good of a vocalist they are- and still have the same impact.

Yeah I already listen to Hot Hot Heat, heck I went to their show a month or so ago. I went through a quick Muse phase last year when Absolution was first released- listened to all their albums except for the live one constantly, but after a few months I just grew tired of them and just couldn't get back into them again.

I've heard Damnation by Opeth before, I didn't get into it. Hmm, another album?

Okay, I'm just about to listen to some Minutemen right now =D

Merkava:

--- Quote from: ForteBass ---Oh don't misunderstand me on this one. I've nothing against Hot Hot Heat or The Cure. And, yes I do also like Smashing Pumpkins.

I just can't see not like Billy Corgan's voice but loving the dude from Hot Hot Heat.
--- End quote ---

I see. For me, Corgan's voice is fine. It's just the rest I don't like. Mabe I need to listen to them again or something, as my musical tastes have changed a bit. Can you believe I didn't like The Pixies a while ago? And that I actually LIKED Yo La Tengo!? O_O

ElRodente:
