The 'Must Have' List
Korlin:
Not entirely indie, but I have to heartily recommend:
Four Tet - Rounds
and
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven
tumblingwall:
any cd with dick dale's Miserlou. period.
the greatest song ever.

Although I'm interested to know why you would choose Before the Dawn Heals Us over Dead Cities, Red Seas and Lost Ghosts for an M83 "must have." I actually heard Before the Dawn first and was ready to dismiss them as a more pretentious Vangelis rip off, but someone suggested I listen to the previous album.

I don't know, I guess Before The Dawn Heals Us just feels like more of a cohesive album for me. Don't get me wrong, Dead Cities, Red Seas and Lost Ghosts absolutely blew me away, and I would reccomend it highly, but I don't enjoy the whole album through the way I do with Befor the Dawn. I could listen to "Run Into Flowers" until my heart stops, but the album just isn't as coherent or consistent.
I don't think you can go wrong with either album though.

--- Quote from: KharBevNor ---Slayer - Reign in Blood
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Judas Priest - British Steel
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Mercyful Fate - Don't Break the Oath
Venom - Black Metal
Bathory - Under the Sign of the Black Mark
Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Oh wait! That's not an indie li...

Unbelievably, I own all of those albums except for British Steel (which I probably WILL download now, all things considered). And I also agree about Reign In Blood being on the top of the list.
Speak English Or Die is also essential as far as hardcore/thrash albums go. Has anyone heard D.R.I.'s Dealing With It? I'm about to download it and am curious to hear some thoughts on the matter...
