Hahaha. I'd forgotten that this thread existed until now. It's still my favorite so far.
I just realized after looking over my list that I'd forgotten Urdu. There's some really cool stuff going on in Pakistan right now if you can dig the more commercial sides of punk and metal, like Dye Corduroy and Rola.
Zmeiat Joro: It's very nice to find someone else here who likes Control! Do you know the other bands I listed? I've helped to release a few CDs of classic BG punk bands from the communist period, and I trade quite a bit with a few friends in Stara-Zagora and Sofia. Bulgaria's musical treasures are sadly unknown to a lot of the world... :(
Xhosa is the coolest sounding language ever. Clicks!
Jed: The national language of Brazil is Portuguese. Os Mutantes' first LP is really fantastic. Good call.
zmeiat_joro:
I know about the other two, yeah. But they're not as well-known and popular as Control. They're still great punk bands, but Control went a bit beyond that, when I was in my teens (late 90's early um, zero's?) people still listened to them a lot (well, the kind of people I hanged out with).
P.S. Actually Review's vocalist Milena did some great stuff after they split up, I don't know if you know about that. And they have a new album from 2002 with a new vocal.
And clicks are the awesomest.
FuneralCateringService:
I've got English, Spanish, Icelandic, Hopelandic (If you consider that a language...which it's really not), French, Swedish, Finnish, Russian, German, and probably a few others. My favourite is definitely Icelandic, it's such a beautiful language. Swedish is great too, in the right context. (DUNGEN!)
