depends on which song/what album. i once put on the first album from the start while i went to have a shower (settle down, we'd just come back from the beach) and the lady i was trying for makeouts with at the time started shouting through the door at me (in a jovial fashion) "what the hell is this crap you're subjecting me to?!" and put on some John Mayer instead.
despite the dulcet, crooning tones of Mr Mayer no makeouts resulted.
what is good for makeouts though is the Postal Service, Sigur Ros, Air, and the Arcade Fire. also: Ratatat.
