Definitely Kelly Clarkson.  I saw the label "American Idol" and immediately sought to ignore her.  But damn, some of her songs are SO GOOD!

I call this the "Ted Leo Exception" rule.  Anything that Ted Leo likes and covers is okay.  This category includes Clarkson and Rush.  (Of course, you can have a pretty hefty debate about whether Rush is good outside of the Ted Leo Exception.  But I'm not really prepared to have that debate.)
