Just got Deus Ex for £4.99
Kai:
My game buggered up the first time I played at the hotel part. I had sent the transmission and everything else I was supposed to do, I get back to the hotel, and Paul's not there. I look around the entire town, and come back, go back to the base, make sure I did everything, the guy is sitll not there. at that point I went ahead and stopped playing. Later I picked it up, started over, and beat it. it ruled.

--- Quote from: Switchblade ---I have a thing about killing the UNATCO troops - MiB's and MJ12 yes, UNATCO, NSF, cops and civvies, no.

Me too, I think it is awesome that even though you know it makes no difference (except 1st 2 episodes) you get so immersed in the game you care about stuff like this. I even scuttle the boat without rendering any of the crew unconcious so they have as much chance as I have of escaping :) .
I also prodded lebedev (the game reacts as if you've killed him, & I wanted to see how that turned out) but took his sleeping body with me through as much of the game as I could so UNATCO/MJ12 wouldn't get their hands on him. I also like taking Manderly a potted plant everytime I go and see him :D .
I have a thing about killing MiB's with WP rockets and watching them run around screaming like little girls waving their arms in the air, heh :)
Deus Ex is still the best game I own, I think the only other game I've come close to enjoying as much is Max Payne/2. I am hoping the next Elder Scrolls game might be cool, but am dubious because of how bad Morrowind sucked.
The paul/hotel bit is weirdly buggy. I usually wall him in with chairs while everything is safe and mine the hotel lobby with wallmounted gas grenades so I can sleepdart the unatco guys quickly & snipe the MJ12s. I know this is kindof cheaty but I kept finding Paul would just *vanish* before my very eyes otherwise.

i got the PC version for £5 too ... its probably one of the best games i can think of. it was so immersive.
shame about invisible war, it looked amazing, but really the story was slightly lacking in comparison.
KharBevNor:
--- Quote from: Switchblade ---Heh... I just loaded the assault rifle up with grenades, and chucked one through the door the moment the MiB's blew it in. Cleared the corridor in one shot.

Proximity mines in the entrance passage. BADOOM.
Simon:
I've never played Deus Ex before, although I've heard a ton of good things about it. Can anybody explain what's so awesome about it?
