So, anyone else like rap, and if so, what groups?

I feel I should mention this, not to be elitist or anything ('cause I hate musical elitists), but simply because not enough people are really aware of it. Hip-hop and rap are two separate musical styles - both have borrowed from each other and cross-bred over the years, but still.

As easy examples... Rap? Think N.W.A and earlier Snoop Dogg. Hip-hop? Think Jurassic 5 and Mos Def.

Disclaimer: my views may not mirror those of anyone else. And that's cool.

HELL YES.

LB is hands down my favorite rapper out there today.

Murs is also really fucking good.

Damn, I think the new Murs/Atmosphere collaboration should be out now...

Kanno:
This thread has been done to death already.  But, other than that, the only hip hop album I'll ever need is the rawkus records mixtape Soundbombing II.  If you've never heard it, go get it.

Valrus:
I don't know if mentioning The Streets makes me a tool, but I'm going to anyway, because I dig 'em. Or him. Whatever.

there's a new herd album in the works at the moment, 'parrently. but if you're looking for more, some of the members have done solo releases n stuff. urthboy's album 'distant sense of random menace' is pretty good. and unkle ho, one of the herd's producers/laptop jockeys, just put a out an album ("roads to roma"), but it's not strictly hip-hop. good though.

try prefuse 73 and el-p for some glitchier stuff, which i'm into at the moment...
