Kid Modernist:
Talib Kweli's Beautiful Mix Tape is completely awesome and worth checking out.

No, wait.

Crotchdusters 'Mammal Sauce' is pretty much the only song with rapping in it I like though.

Kompressor's collaboration with MC Frontalot is pretty funny as well, and I thought some Gorillaz songs were ok, but they were off the old album, and might have been less hip hop or something? I dunno.

But as far as hip-hop goes, it's like ska. I don't get it.

Freelance Physicist:
Since they haven't been mentioned yet (and their album is the only rap album I own):

Digable Planets

Rapping over sampled Art Blakey with references to Jimi Hendrix = awesome

Actually, it's not fantastic. It's a whole bunch better than the first one though. I only really felt (Ha! Get it?) 'The Two' and 'Aneurysm' off the first one. It should have been better, with Slug, Murs, and Ant. The new Atmosphere album (4th October, baby!) had better be seriously fucking great, because Seven's Travels and Felt 2 were pretty poor. Stuck was awesome though, so there's still hope.

Anyway, Listen to One Self. I saw them at the weekend and they were hellacious. DJ Vadim, Yarah Bravo and Blurum 13 = quite a supergroup. Ish. DJ Woody too, with the greatest scratching I've ever seen.
