JOY DIVISION appreciation thread.
Hector Gilbert:
--- Quote from: onewheelwizzard ---I never listened to Joy Division, but I get the impression that I wouldn't like them that much. Fans of them, recommend to me an album to download! I want to know whether they're shitty wankers, appreciably good, or world-alteringly amazing (my hunch is that they land somewhere between the former two but I'm refraining from making that assumption).

Listen to Unknown Pleasures, when they were a band that rocked. The first song everyone should hear of Joy Division's is the first track from the first album ("Disorder") as far as I'm concerned. It's dark, not really moany and depressing, but cool in a dark kind of way.
Snapman:
Joy Division were brilliant, and 'Closer' is quite comfortably in my top 5 albums of all time.
Early New Order are pretty good too. 'Power, Lies & Corruption' is a fine album by them.
call it glitter:
Love Will Tear Us Apart is one of the very few songs that makes me physically dance.
MirLong:
I love Joy Division. Failures and Shadowplay are my favorite songs. Anyone who likes them should watch 24 Hour Party People. It's a movie about the original manchester music scene. Joy Division, Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, etc... are in it.
Merkava:
--- Quote from: i am richard and you suck ---hands down, one of the best bands ever.
seriously. there is just no way that anyone could NOT like this band.

What about the fact that Ian couldn't carry a note? Like, at all?
Still so much better than New Order. This is one of those cases where I prefer the follower (Interpol) to the original.
Sorry to troll.
