Oh Brother, Where art thou.

Kid Modernist:
The blind black man is like an oracle that is referred to in many Greek stories, that's another one I can think of.

Storyteller:
Actually, the whole reference/non-reference question is the charm of the movie. I love movies, books and music that has such underlying themes, that it comes out of the other end. David Lynch is a great example of that too.
Concerning Oh Brother Where Art Thou, you could endlessly repeat the great movie and scoop up all the references and either miss a bunch or find some that aren't even there, totally over-analysing everything. A fun hobby for rainy sunday afternoons.

happybirthdaygelatin:
Just kind of another Cohen related question but was The Big Labowski losely based off of The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler?

happybirthdaygelatin:
Now let's see if I can remember that next time I'm at the book depository or store.

AndSheeWas:
Hmmm...that suddenly makes the Big Lebowski make a lot more sense.

The things you learn when you pop into the QC boards after awhile.
