The Stone Angel

I had to read Margaret Laurence's The Stone Angel for AP English 30. Has anyone else read it? I thought it was a neat book, although the main character is incredibly grating. I kind of grasp the fact that the stone angel is a metaphor for the main character, who kind of lacks sight of what's true and important, and is instead stubborn and cold, but I don't think I quite have it right.

Anyway, thoughts? Comments?

I was supposted to read it but my english teacher in high school got fired so we ended up not reading the rest of it.
