Anyways, since Sam Beam's beard is officially recognized under the Geneva Convention as an entity unto itself, it gets my vote.

Postal Service for me, the awkward chorus isn't that great like you said, plus I feel it doesn't keep the right mood of the song.

The only cover version I think is better than the original is Nico doing Jackson Browne's These Days. (And maybe Elliott Smith covering Nico's cover).
