Fun Stuff > BAND
i just made a mix.
KharBevNor:
imo, the only real way to excuse mutliple tracks from a same artist is if two songs simply do not work without each other, or if they are different parts of the same song all seperated up.
happybirthdaygelatin:
Good point, I didn't even think that could be the case with the Floyd tracks.
Also if you do a mix of covers and originals what would the best lay out be?
KharBevNor:
I've never done it. I take it you mean a mix that has original versions of songs, and covers of the same songs? I imagine I would do it as two 'sides' with the same order of songs (but not bands). Best with a tape or 2 cds. A really good mix of the sort would have 'light and dark', 'good and bad' or 'fast and slow' versions of the tracks. Some sort of obvious contrast anyway.
soap:
1. Miracle Drug - A.C.Newman - The Slow Wonder
2. Pure Rock Fury - Clutch - Pure Rock Fury
3. I. Shoes - yourcodenameis:milo - schteeve (single)
4. Dog Park - Minus The Bear - They Make Beer Commercials Like This ep
5. Lovers Need Lawyers - The Good Life - Lovers Need Lawyers ep or The Album Of The Year
6. Jezebel - Iron & Wine - Woman King ep
7. One With The Freaks - Notwist - Neon Golden
8. KC Accidental - Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People
9. With Arms Outstretched - Rilo Kiley - The Execution Of All Things
10. The Words 'Stabbed' and 'Back' Spring To Mind- Twofold - Hammer To The Hornets Nest (single)
11. Gravity - Hell Is For Heroes - (its a bside but i don't know what of)
12. Ten Minutes - The Get-Up Kids - Something To Write Home About
13. B is for Bethlehem - The Promise Ring - Nothing Feels Good
14. Self Healer - Idlewild - Captain
15. Biotech is Godzilla - Sepultura - Chaos AD
16. Homewrecker - Converge - Jane Doe
17. What's Your New Thing? - Walking Concert - Run To Be Born
18. Better Than This - onelinedrawing - Sketchy #1 ep
it was designed for a cd mix swap on the forum of a band called reuben, which might explain some of the choices to some of the UK users...
it was also designed to flow without getting too bogged down in heavy or mellow - i think i managed it

Pink Floyd - Pigs (Three Different Kinds)

If not following his advice completly on this point, at least have the same artist seperated by a song or more (preferably more for my self.)

My point, that was missed, is that the tracklisting I gave is NOT an acceptible tracklisting for a mix. I mean, I'd consider the fact that I followed a very ethereal EBM remix with a very fast punk song (Frontline and T(I)NC respectively) just as much a sin as having those Floyd songs back to back. I just threw together a bunch of songs I like. That's all. Which is what Comfort Eagle did. I would never burn that tracklist to a CD, and I damned well wouldn't brag about it in public. Hell, I don't even know if it would fit on a CD. Probably not.
