The Mike Patton / Ipecac Records Thread
normz:
Dear Mr Patton
Please have my love babies
Yours Sincerely
Norma
ummmm yeah I really really adore Mike Patton and the versatility of his voice is amazing! Me and my friends constantly refer to him as the rock/metal band whore because he really does get around :-P I must admit to loving Tomohawk and Faith No More but I do find Fantomas a little bit too weird *goes off to listen to patton playlist*
Kai:
Where I tend to prefer Mr. Bungle and Fantomas to be his best stuff simply because they're weirder.
and Patton rules.
JLM:
Mike Patton was kicked out of a nightclub in my hometown for violating himself with a microphone on stage after he'd had one too many.
I think that pretty much sums up everything I'd ever need to say about him. I liked his work with Loveage.
La Creme:
Yesterday I just listened to some sound samples from "General Patton Vs. The X-ecutioners" for the first time and I am impressed. Excellent turntable workage mixes really well with crazy Mike Patton singage.
I think the appeal and draw to main man Mike is that he plays a lot of different styles and sings in a huge variance of ways, and he does it without being too serious. He's hugely talented, but he doesn't waste his talent. He uses just the right amount to not make his music total masturbation, but enough that it's complex and multi-layered and you have to chew on it for a while before you can swallow.

See, anybody who can make someone say "Hey, DEP don't suck as much with him involved!" is obviously the man ten times over.
