Ok, let's see: Everything Ben Gibbard's got his thumb stuck in has completely insipid lyrics. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing alone, he also has some amount of pretention, which means that what is shit and what should be accepted as shit is somehow thought to be, well, not shit. DCFC has been going downhill into the dregs of dull, dull music for their entire career. That's not to say they were interesting to begin with, but they were passable, and now it just keeps getting worse. If you're bothered by the fade-into-the-background music that eveybody seems to complain MTV forces on the general TV viewing public, you have no business enjoying Ben Gibbard. He and his band are like thousands of other boring, boring bands out there.
