Micolithe:
The Super Furry Animals were playing a concert that someone on the VG Cats forums went to. They posted the Set list and I decided to look into some of the bands.

I bought You Forgot It In People by Broken Social Scene for two reasons: #1. Jeph recomended it, and He has impeccable taste. Second, I heard 'almost crimes' on a mix a friend was playing. I almost cried that song was so awesome.

Me too!

A lot of bands I discovered on the forum for my original favorite metal band, extol, which I discovered by a random internet search for christian death metal. that forum turned me on to Opeth, Emperor, My Dying Bride, and so many more of my favorites.

Probably my very favorite band though is Virgin Black and I discovered them about 3 years ago when a not very metal friend of mine lent me the CD. He's really more into classical and prog, and he admitted it was darker and heavier than anything else he listens to, but it was still amazing. I turned it on and it felt like I had come home. That sounds cheesy, but I don't really care. It's a perfect blend of metal, opera and neoclassical darkwave, and immediately became my favorite band.

Back in the day when I used KaZaA (don't worry, I'm fully legit now), I got bored and started to look for the Tron soundtrack for no particular reason. What I came upon was the song Mu-Tron by Ladytron. I've been in love with them ever since. I'm kind of disappointed their new album is more rock than synth, though. :/

Last year, I was showing my dad the best ways to use the internet, and in a sudden flash, he wanted to know if there was some website that could rate a person's karma. He typed Instant Karma into Google, and what came out was a site for a UK-based record company by that name. We listened to the free samples of a few different bands, and that is how I discovered I, Monster. I ordered the CD through a local record store last year, and just got it less than a week ago. I know imports take a little while but I had no idea it would take THAT long.

Otherwise, I've gotten most of my favorite bands from my dad. From Devo, Talking Heads, Big Audio Dynamite, X, and the Pixies to different obscoure bluegrass tunes and a large selection of jazz, blues, and standards from my grandfather.
