Just for something completely different, the best hand-claps I've ever heard on record are in Charles Mingus's "Better Git it in Your Soul", off Mingus Ah Um.  Booker Ervin takes a great tenor sax solo, the first part of which is backed only by hand-claps.  Awesome.

In retrospect, I was thinking not of "Merchants Of Soul" when I wrote this, but rather "They Never Got You." Which has the most crazy-fun handclaps probably ever recorded.
