KharBevNor:
Basically, if you want a guide, all usage of the word Krieg by black metal fans stems from, essentially, a mockery of the seriousness of the Nargaroth album 'Black Metal Ist Krieg', and anyone who has ever seriously used the statement 'Black Metal Ist Krieg' and meant it. Many things are Krieg, more things are not. The cat is Krieg because he's wearing a Morbid Angel hat and looks mean as fuck.

Azathoth:
I dig all cheesy power metal to some degree but Blind Guardian is a band I love with absolutely no irony.  I saw them in St Paul and they brought the place down like true metal warriors.

If Blind Guardian is Tolkien then Dragonforce is the DragonLance saga.  Still fun, but it doesn't quite resonate the same way.

Haha, best comparison ever.

@Khar..  Black metal IST krieg, just like Kanwulf says.

Black metal ist krieg!
Black.. fucking.. metal!
Black metal ist krieg!
Black metal ist.. .. krieg!!

he's a lyrical genius if I say so myself.

Delph:
Most power metal nowadays seems to suffer from a serious lack of power...I therefore support Satan Stole My Teddybears suggestion to rename the genre "pitifull metal", with the possible exception of Rhapsody for being so cheesy they actually got Christopher Lee to narrate. That's so cheesy it shoots right through cheesy and ends up in awesome \m/

No kidding, I totally agree.  Hammerfall, for example..  yeah their songs are catchy and stuff but it's just all sort of bland and mediocre.
