Prediction:  This thread will eventually contain the names of about 50% of the bands that people on this board listen to.

Also, Shonen Knife.

Lacuna Coil.

Oh yeah, and add these guys to the "Evanescence" group. Forgot about em.

WOAH! Lacuna Coil != Evanescence, because Lacuna Coil doesn't suck.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

You misunderstood. Someone had mentioned Evanescence, and we were simply mentioning bands similar to them, mainly who don't suck. You can't deny that they have a similar sound...except the whole Lacuna Coil not sucking part.

I just saw them last night opening for the Decemberists (who also have female singers).

Good stuff.

I'd forgotten that Sol Invictus, Ensiferum and Skyclad have bits of female vocals. Only on a few songs though. Sol Invictus and Ensiferum both have entire songs by female vocalists ( December Song, Tears) but they're session members in both cases. I think some of the female backing vocals on some Skyclad songs (ie Womb of the Worm) might be by the fiddler, whoever she was back then. The one before the one before Georgina Biddle.

Helalyn Flowers.

They're an unsigned, Italian psych-pop band that take in more genres in the 25 minutes their EP lasts than most people listen to in their whole lives.

Their singer is called Noemi...and she is hot. As well as singing like the bastard child of Amy Lee and Bjork. In a good way.

By the looks of the edit list you've got WAY more than enough to check out, but because someone mentioned Tricky's 'Maxinquaye' album before, I thought I should add:

Martina Topley Bird

She's the female vocalist on that album. She also has at least one solo album, and it's quite good actually.

Oh, and she Canadian!

Oh man, this thread makes me really really happy. I heart female vocalists, and so many of my favourite bands have been mentioned in this!

Ones that haven't:

Jack Off Jill (if you like angry goth rock, and especially if you like Queen Adreena, which apparently some people do)

Rasputina (if you like non-angry goth rock. And cellos!)

Nedelle (formerly of Nedelle and Thom. If you like good music in general - some really nice mellow stuff, and she has an AMAZING voice)

The Delgadoes (honestly one of my favourite bands ever)

As well as Beat Happening and occasionally Belle and Sebastian!

So. Uh.
No-one's mentioned Lauryn Hill.
Now normally I'd just let that kind of thing slide, as I'm sure y'all just 'forgot'. If, for example, she was just the female member of The Fugees, I could maybe understand this oversight. The Score was a freaking amazing album, but Blunted on Reality wasn't as good, so forgivable.
The problem occurs when you remember that she also made The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which is an 100% mega-awesome album.
So basically, get your collective shit together.

One more time, for the slower kids.

LAURYN.
HILL.

Sure, there was Miseducation, but then there was also her Unplugged album, which, at best, was hit and miss. She released two albums, the other being The Score of course, that were really good at spots. On the whole, though, her track record is patchy and the new stuff doesn't look all that good either.

a few more...

Shikhee from Android Lust; not just singing, she's the whole damn band.  Also appears with I, Parasite and on Monstrum Sepsis' album Deep Sea Creatures.

The Weekend: Lots of buzz here in southern Ontario.  Metric like, only sillier.

Horrorpops: not a fan of pschyobilly, but they can be amusing.

Lucia Ciafarelli(sp?) : solo career and female vocalist on KMFDM albums since MDFMK.

Sow: Friend of Raymond Watts <PIG>, lots of french, sultry and sleezy.

Die Form: Nice female vocals, german darkwave.

Flesh Field: the name escapes me at the moment, which is horrible, but they just changed up their female vocalist and the new one is much stronger and can do more than just goth-croon.

other bands/artists: Aryia, Neikka RPM, Claire Voyant, Drain STH, Kidney Theives/Free Dominguez, Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Echo Image, Faith and the Muse
