Stupid Comments
Topper:
I was once chatting with this lad I worked in a bar with about music and he asked who I'd been listening to recently and I said Bob Dylan, so he replied that he really didn't rate Dylan that much, and when I asked why he said...
"Because if you ever see any of his songs written down, they're just poems"
...which stands to this day as perhaps the stupidest comment I've ever heard on the subject of music. Anyone else heard any little gems that are worth sharing?

A girl attempted to justify to me why exactly she respected Britney Spears for what she's contributed to the music industry:
"Everyone seems to hate Britney but I don't understand why, I mean she's so pretty!"
No, she wasn't joking, and yes, she is my age, although this conversation did happen a couple of years ago.
Uhhhmmm yeah.
ASturge:
heh, today my friend Joe said about Kurt Cobain
"Kurt Cobain was just [Dramatic Pause] diffrent "
I laughed then told him that we had enough miserable emo kiddies before he came along.
Praeserpium Machinarum:
I once argued with a guy called Alex about his (ir)rationel love of Usher, his defence was a bit odd:
"I know his lyrics and the music is kind of bad but he sings well!"
or something to that effect. Keep in mind he's extremely mainstream-minded, his idea of rock is Linkin Park who he has recently discovered. I have actually played Enon, My Bloody Valentine etc. which he dismisses as either bad or weird. However he likes M.I.A, mostly because she's hot apparently. We have had many shit-throwingfest based on our different tastes, but we're still pals, just not musicwise.

I was explaining to a friend how something like Taste of Chaos only produces homogeny among the genres one day, and I don't quite think she understood, because all she said in response was "Yeah, I like all kinds of music."
