well rather than open the virtual drive and drag it into the applications folder inside the macintosh HD, you are supposed to simply open the virtual drive and drag it to the "applications" to the left on that folder.

that doesn't really make any sense, since the applications icon in the sidebar is just a shortcut to the real applications folder.
