That new Broken Social Scene album...

sjbrot:
I'm unsure about it so far. It seems good, but it doesn't seem to have the same kind of variety that made You Forgot It In People good. On it's own, it's not a bad album at all. It just seems like they have taken a few elements from YFIIP and ran with them.

I'm not an emotional person by any stretch of the imagination, but I cried a little the first time I heard "anthems for a 17 year old girl". While the new album is good, It didn't have anything on it that affected me nearly so strongly.

McTaggart:
Is the whole album as noisy, wall-of-sound style as that one track I keep hearing on the radio? (I forgot what it's called, but I think you'll figure it out)

Ibi Dreams of Pavement? Yes, it pretty much is. But each time you listen to it the whole "wall of noise" breaks down a little bit and you find that it's not just noise but wonderful little instruments playing along. I've listened to it two or three dozen times and each time I play it, I still hear stuff that I completly missed before.

McTaggart:
That's the track.

Unfortunately that doesn't help me. I find that if I'm listening to something that I've listened to many times and find something new, that's one of the best feelings there is. But at the same time I haven't been in the mood for actively listening to something for a while now. hmm...

I have an idea: Are there any violins? I'm a sucker for violins.
