If I could find a tattoo artist who could tattoo water colors that is.  Upper bicep or thigh.

It'd be quite expensive for someone to work with all those colours.

I wouldn't want any shading or coloring, if possible; I like it as a line drawing. Would this not work? Also, this will be on my inside right bicep- any comments on the area as a placement?

You don't know what will or won't work until you go talk to an artist! I lurk at the InkedNation.com fourms, and people are always asking, "Will this work", and (as they are all a bunch of artists) everyone tells them they don't know what will or won't work on you until you are standing in front of an artist with them and talking about what it is that you want.

And BK, as for wanting something after the novelity wares off, the suggestion i always hear is to pin up a picture of what you -think- you want now, somewhere you'll see it everyday (bathroom mirror, fridge, closet door, etc), and if you still like that image after 6 months, you're probably good to have it tattoo'd with no hard feelings about it later.

...These are just, you know, general things. I hang out at Inked Nation to much. I'm beginning to get kinda bitchy like them. Ack.

I've actually seen work done on fellow concertgoers with that level of complexity but haven't actually taken the intiative to go up to someone and ask them where they got it done.  As for expensive -- assuming those colors wouldn't fade, we're talking about a long term investment.  I wouldn't hesitate to put down some serious cash for that.  I mean, I live in Manhattan, it's not like I need to buy a car.

Yeah, enjoy the session. From what I've heard, the inside of the bicep is one of the most painful spots to get a tattoo (I'm wary enough as it is about the knot band I want around my bicep and that's only going to be about an inch, inch and a half wide) . I would also generally recommend against it as, well, no one can see it there. Maybe I sound shallow, but what's the point of a tattoo in a spot no one can see? If it's of any reasonable size that people could actually identify it, it's going to be riding up almost into your armpit. The tattoo itself is nice and should be easily done, but I'd reconsider the placement if I were you.

"Serious cash" is an understatement. Same as with Darby, in order for it to be recognizable, it's going to have to be of decent size. Something with that much color in any decent size is going to cost you a hefty chunk of cash (I'm talking maybe in the $500+ range from what I've seen). My best recommendation is leave the city to do it. I live in Boston (Hence in a similar boat to you) and would never pay an artist in the city considering everything's more expensive.

Try hitting up some conventions. No way in Hell you'll get the whole thing done there as artists tend to want to do smaller things, but you could probably get the outline on the cheap there and then get the color as time goes on. I got my two tattoos for a combined $325 or so plus tip at a convention in Manchester, NH.

Hey now...No Pain, no Gain.
Totally worth it once it's done. What's a some discomfort and obsecenitities to get some awesome artwork?
