Der Tattoo Thread.
redglasscurls:
My friend recently got a great big (about 3x5) half American/half German flag on his chest... If you know about his german/american heritage it makes sense, but otherwise he just looks kind of neo-nazi. I think that even if a tattoo means something deep to the person getting it, having it easily mistaken for something completely opposite it is not great.

I was considering for the longest time getting something really small on my left hip; either a heart, a star, or something else really small. (the left one because I am left-handed). I like my hips and thought it would make a cute accent. My only concern is that it's dangerously close to my lower stomach, and whenever I decide to have kids, I'd be concerned about it stretching out. That's the only thing stopping me at this point.
normz:
I know what you mean about stretchyness heather .... my friend always tells the horror story of the woman who got a strawberry tattooed onto her breast which in later life more resembled a chilli :S I think placement is the hardest thing for me when deciding on my tattoo to be cause I want somewhere that is discreet (I'm going into either Law or Politics so visible tatts are a no) won't get stretched and won't hurt like hell (plus that tatt that im getting cant be tattoo'd below my waist cause thats disrespectful)

--- Quote from: Duchess Tapioca ---I always wanted one on the bottom of my foot. I almost always wear striped stockings so it wouldn't be too visible. I wouldn't know what to get though. Everything would seem stupid later, so I figure I would just label it "foot" it will always be my foot.
Or maybe spirals on my elbows so I could be a cartoon.
--- End quote ---
That has me thinking, getting "left" and "right" done on each foot would be amusing.
--- Quote from: Digs --- It's a seal with the same amount of meaning, or possibly even more - you can't just take it off. It can't be stolen, that's good, too.
--- End quote ---
I share that sentiment. They can take your boots and teeth but not your skin and designs you put on it. Unless they pull some sort of Bufflo Bill crazyness.
tania:
My friend has the word "its" tattooed on her foot. She won't tell me why though. It was definitely professionally done though, no drunken tattoos by friends or anything.
It's.. weird.
