Der Tattoo Thread.
BeoPuppy:
If done with permission I guess it's okay. It creeps me out a little, but okay.
Without permission, like David Blaine getting Primo Levi's number on his arm ... feels wrong somehow.
Carl-E:
Well, the article was about getting a relative's number put on, not a stranger's. That would be creepy.
Lines:
I think if it's passed down among family members or friends, it's a beautiful sentiment. But when random people just take someone's number, it seems downright disrespectful, especially if they know nothing about what that person went through.
Barmymoo:
I find it very interesting that people are taking ownership of a number which was intended to remove their individual personhood. I think it's an interesting way to remember, especially as the article points out we are moving into a point where it is entirely history - soon there will be no living survivors.
BeoPuppy:
A point in time which, for some reason, scares the hell out of me.
But that was beside the point of this thread. My apologies. Please return to your scheduled needle work now.
