See I would see this and think "integrals? hot" and then see the other one and think "man that is wierd". The I'd figure it out and it'd be fine again.

I made a pact with an old friend that if (when) he comes out to Ontario to visit me, we're getting matching tattoos.
The tattoos will be YYR, because this is the IATA code for our home, which is built around the air base. I may have already mentioned this as being the only thing that consistently seems like something I would would like to have on my body.
The problem is, where should it go? I would consider having it on the underside of my wrist, but something better/subtler is desired.

While in a waterpark in New York, i saw a guy with a M.C. Esher tattoo. It was the one with the fish that turned into birds. probably the least cliched of any tattoos I have ever seen.

You obviously don't frequent tattoo sites. If you want it for a tattoo, it's a cliche. The sooner someone wanting a tattoo knows this (placement or art wise), the sooner they can get something because they actually want it.

Who has their fricken IATA code as a tattoo? I think I am pretty safe with that one.
I guess really anything you can think of and think that some random stranger might think of as cool will probably be cliche.
So unless your tattoo has meaning to you and only you/a specific, limited subset of people, it will be cliche.
