Dire Straits - Romeo and Juliet

Hey, I have a soft spot for these guys. There's just something about their tunes that makes you want to get beer-drunk and sing karaoke.

Now:

Epicure - Self-Destruct In Five

Anyone else here heard of these guys? Aussie rock outfit, unpretentious and pretty damn listenable.

Noise/Star by Bastro

Mile Me Deaf by Unwound

One Less Worry by Pere Ubu

There's this program called pandora (found at www.pandora.com) which lets you type in an artist or song and find simmilar artists. It breaks down the suggestion into parts, which it sends out, giving you the best combination of these parts. The first ten hours are free and you don't have to download anything.

I found the three above bands by typing in The Dismemberment Plan.

Colonel Claypool's Bucket Of Bernie Brains - The Tyranny Of The Hunt

"The tyranny of the hunt
Will take you by surprise
It'll cloud most the unobstructed eye
The unpliable will ply.

I tore a chunk from my finger
Red blood drops to the floor
Suddenly I see I won't be
Violining anymore

THE TYRANNY OF THE HUNT
THE TYRANNY OF THE HUNT
THE TYRANNY OF THE HUNT
AND SO GOES THE TYRANNY OF THE HUNT

Agalloch - Kneel to the Cross

Still the best Sol Invictus cover ever. It sucks that most Sol Invictus covers are either a) total rip-offs, b) pointless industrial noise-fests, c) trite synth-pop. Agalloch really summon that bleak apocalyptic energy.

And now changed to:

Blood Brothers = greatness. Crimes took a while to win me over but when I got over the lack of screaming, I began to understand its genius.

Altamont, The Monkee's Uncle
Man I dunno. The Melvins are great and all, but when I want poorly produced stoner rock I'll just put on a Kyuss record with a ten-year-old needle or something. The riffs are pretty nice but Dale Crover's voice is annoying me deeply.

My synthpop playlist
Bike Thief-Freezepop

Strange Love-Depeche Mode
Birth-The Faint
Happy Birthday-The Birthday Massacre

Of course, it's mostly modern synthpop variations, there's very little actual 80s synth on it.

Old KMFDM is better in my opinion. If you haven't heard them try the albums Money and XTORT.
I'm currently listening to samples of the new AFI album. Looks to be a good one. A lot more punk and a lot more goth... I don't know if that makes sense.

Save me is a good catchy song. Earlier KMFDM is a lot less polished but it's also a lot more daring and a lot more interesting than modern. Most of their recent stuff is heavily influenced by Tim Skold, ex Marilyn Manson. He was in KMFDM first I believe but the music he was involved in seems to be more formulaic.
That said, I haven't heard the new album which I believe he had no part in.
My favourite song is Virus, closely followed by Adios.
