David Bowie - Reality/Bring me the Disco King

My god he is a sexy, sexy man.

Also holy shit the album version of Bring Me the Disco King is different to the version he did with Maynard James Keenan. I don't know which one I prefer, I mean MJK is awesome-creepy, but the piano bits on the Reality version is pretty jazzy in a laid back, lounge music kinda way.

I used to hate this song, but whenever I played "Top Gun: Hornet's Nest" on my computer and I had this CD in the other drive, it would ALWAYS PLAY THIS SONG. The game was (and still is) intense fun though so it ended up growing on me.

Mastodon, Leviathan
I was expecting this to be more droning yawncore like Isis and them (not that that would be a bad thing), as neither mastodons nor leviathans are in my experience very fast or interesting creatures. I am very surprised by the level of technicality and speed employed on this record. No wonder everyone was all crazy about it last year.

Skyclad - Something To Cling To

Skyclad ALWAYS cheer me up.

"Then as if from out of nowhere.
(and just when you least expected).
floats a single piece of driftwood -
by some unseen force directed
It's a gift life often brings you.
when you thought all hope long gone.
sometimes a single dream to cling to.
gives you strength to carry on.

It seems the wisest words that I know,
(three which some dead scholar wrote)
are simply these: - "Dum spiro spero"
meaning; "WHILE I BREATHE I HOPE"."

Eels - In The Yard, Behind The Church

"In the yard, behind the church where
Butterflies and blackbirds search for
A safe place
To rest the night away.

We will go down to the brook and
Sit upon the overlook then
Forget about the
Troubles of the day."

Mr. BevNor: do you have any recommendations for a good starter Skyclad album? I was thinking of grabbing one for a friend for the holidays (he likes odd metal).

OT: Miles Davis, Bitches Brew
On vinyl, either an original pressing or an early enough one that it's got the really old-school Columbia label. I actually bought it for my brother but I haven't seen him in a while so now he loses out. And it beats the pants off the CD for some reason so he may lose out permanently.

@ Rumble: What is a good starting album will be affected a lot by what his taste is...the process is made somewhat easier as about two thirds of their discography is out of print. Folkemon was distro'd by Nuclear Blast (and is also a damn fine album), so go for that one. The best would probably be Prince of the Poverty Line, doubt you could get hold of it though.

Inkubus Sukkubus - Supernature

Scissor Sisters- It can't come quickly enough

Sailling through the tunnels
In the morning by yourself
Thereīs a very special feeling
True sensation all is well
If you stand and reach your arms out wide
close your eyes and try to fly
Itīs an underground illusion
Tricking you from side to side

We knew all the answers
And we shouted them like anthems
Anxious and suspicious
That God knew how much we cheated
