Live Bands! Where have you been?
LightThievesAll:
I have seen an assload of shows. In the past mostly basement or small club punk/hardcore gigs, lately more high profile stuff. Here are some rad bands I've seen this year.
3 Inches of Blood
Aborted
All Those Opposed
Behemoth
Black Sabbath
Cephalic Carnage
Corrosion of Conformity
Cryptopsy
Danzig
Darkbuster
Deathamphetamine
Doosh Bags
Dropkick Murphys (disappointing every time I see them)
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
King Diamond
Mastodon
Megadeth
Motörhead (best show ever? probably)
Napalm Death (I love ND, but I wasn't expecting much from them. Big mistake, they absolutely fucking destroyed.)
Nile
Obituary
Strapping Young Lad
Suffocation (Oh. My. Fucking. God!)
Toxic Narcotic
Vader
Varukers

Damn, I have yet to see a disappointing DKM show. Maybe they save the good ones for us massholes.

I live in Massachusetts and have for my entire life. My problems with the current incarnation of DKM are as follows: "Do or Die" is their best album, hands down, nothing else is as good, and they don't play enough off of it, last time I saw them they didn't even play "Never Alone" which is a fucking sin. Also, they're a band who do GREAT covers, especially of Oi songs, and I've yet to see them play a single one ("Wild Rover" doesn't count). The Irish thing is a gimmick, they aren't the Pogues and they never will be. 14 year old girls and streetpunk... like, what? Finally, seeing Al Barr sing for DKM just reminds me that the Bruisers are not around anymore, and since the Bruisers are one of the sickest bands ever, it breaks my heart.
I must state that I like the Dropkick Murphys, and I find their shows entertaining, but they never rise to my expectations, they always play to the lowest common denominator.
Quick note to ExiledSmarmy: do you go to any other MA punk shows? For example, bands I mentioned such as Darkbuster and Toxic Narcotic blow the doors off of every place they play. Also Slapshot, but they don't play live more than 2 or 3 times a year, tops.
surgerydrugsnrocknroll:
black dahlia murder
cattle decapitation x2
billy talent

Best live show I've ever seen was iron Maiden...purely because of the spectacle. However Howard's Alias were amazing, UK Subs always manage to get the crowd going, Stiff Little Fingers were awesome. Status Quo and Susie Quatro were average and apparently whilst my mother was pregnant with me she went to see Pink Floyd. I think that explains a few things.
