I can't believe you left Fear and Loathing off that list. Hell, that movie is quite easily my favorite movie from the 90's for the Christopher Meloni cameo alone.
And as for the criticism that Depp only plays charicatures, I don't see many characters in movies that are anything like real people at all. The entire buisness of movies seems to be to see how far from a real person a movie character has to be before people will stop giving a crap.

He played a totally realistic, and indeed historical character in Finding Neverland.

Yup, one of the few actors who hasn't done a movie or role I haven't enjoyed.
Gilbert Grape is my favourite, although to be fair, DiCaprio really outshone him IMO.

I used to be ignorant. Wrote him off as some pretty face loser. Then I saw Fear and Loathing. Enough said.
