Emo?

RollOfDimes:
Can someone please give me a clear definition of what they think is "emo"? I know it's officially -selfish emotion-, -whiney-, etc... however, it seems to me if any music, or anything for that matter shows the slightest bit of sad or artistic emotion, it's struck down and labeled as emo. ehkdkd?

Look above at the thread titled EMO and INDIE FAQ

Not An Addict:
Emo is the new new wave. Bad dye jobs, horrible clothes, sexual ambiguity, and gratuitous synthesizers. History repeats!

I think "emo" has come to be a blanket term for anything moody and whiney. In which case, my 5-year old niece is emo.

Oli:
Emotional hardcore.

Spawned out of the DC hardcore scene (try blackflag) in the 80's

Bands such as: Rites of spring, Texas is the reason etc. etc.

Then other bands like Jawbreaker and the decendants kinda spawned out of them which I guess would be the start of the pop-punk/emo confusion...

Gryff:
An easy mistake to make, RollOfDimes. Don't sweat it, and pay no attention to certain posters who seem to have sand in their vaginas.
