The best darn drum solo ever!
« on: 20 Dec 2005, 15:43 »

At least, as far as I know.

Said drum solo is contained in the song Far More Drums by the Dave Brubeck Quartet.

Or, at least, I think that's the best darn drum solo ever.  I could very well be wrong.

Heck, I'd love to be proved wrong, since that drum solo is so awesome.

So, what're your votes for best darn drum solos ever?

The one that I saw Eric Singer do live with the Alice Cooper band.

He played all of Black Widow on his own plus fuck-off technical fills at some ridiculous speed, whilst juggling with his sticks.

He actually did the MELODY.

I've just sent "Take Five" by the Dave Brubeck quintet to the shared gmail account.  It was originally conceived as a Joe Morello drum solo.

I've also sent "St. Thomas", which features Max Roach drumming magnificently throughout.

I saw a jazz-fusion band called Vital Information and Steve Smith, their drummer, did the most amazing drum solos I've ever seen or heard.
