Because (for the characters) hair that long is hard and annoying to manage and (for Jeph) hair that long is hard and annoying to draw.
Jeph, is the Awkward Zone Defeated panel a a stupid T-shirt design? Cause if it isn't, I'd totally buy it.

I'm not strange enough to want to see it, but I would like to know: did you ever get any drawings in response to comic #1038?
Just so I know how scared to be of/for humanity.
