And I will second Zach Hill, I saw him play with Team Sleep, and sweet zombie jesus! Awesome.

Vinnie Colaitua. From Frank Zappa's band, also an idependant and well known studio drummer nowadays.
If you own Zappa's 'Joe's Garage' album, listen to him play on 'Keep It Greasy'. Insane.
